10 TIPS ON SURVIVING LONG DISTANCE LOVE
My husband and I have loads of experience with long distance love. We have been hundreds of miles apart on the same continent, as well as being on two completely different continents for months at a time. It is not easy but we are survivors. Below are some tips that we follow that help us keep our love intact. Hopefully they will work for you too!
- Pray together over the phone and for each other throughout the day.
- Exchange pictures of each other via text or the web daily.
- Let him or her know how much you miss and love them daily.
- Keep positive thoughts: This is important because the mind, I believe, has a tendency towards making negative assumptions.
- Stay busy with church, volunteering in your community or sports.
- Work on self improvement: This can be changing your hair, tweaking your style, or adapting better eating and workout habits (lifestyle changes).
- Make each other laugh as much as possible by reminiscing about funny moments that you share.
- Send your significant other homemade videos of yourself and family, yes, animals included.
- Make a picture slide show comprised of your most memorable or exciting moments and send to your significant other.
- Use "emoticons" to send hugs and kisses. I find these very helpful when I sense that my husband is having a not so good day and needs a hug.
Please comment and let me know what you think about this post! I am also interested in hearing what you do to keep your long distance relationship alive. Thanks for reading!
